Eurostar, the cross channel high speed rail service linking the UK with mainland Europe, will launch its new direct route from London to Amsterdam on Wednesday 4th April. Tickets went on sale from 20th February 2018.
After extensive preparation, a comprehensive programme of testing on the Dutch high speed network and the building of Eurostar terminals in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, Eurostar’s new route to the Netherlands will start on 4th April 2018 with one way tickets available at a public rate from £260 in Business Premier. The new service will be launched with two trains a day departing at 08.31 and 17.31 respectively. The journey time is 3h41 for the London-Amsterdam service and 3h01 for London-Rotterdam.
During the initial period, passengers will travel direct from London to Amsterdam and Rotterdam and on the return journey will connect through Brussels where passport controls and security screening will be carried out. On the Amsterdam-London connection, passengers will travel with Thalys to Brussels Midi where the security checks will be conducted, before boarding a Eurostar to London. Thalys offers up to 8 trains per day between Amsterdam and Brussels Midi, which enable connections with a Eurostar train to London.
The indirect journey between Amsterdam and London will be a temporary measure whilst the governments in the UK and The Netherlands complete an agreement which will enable passport checks to be conducted on departure in The Netherlands as in other key Eurostar destinations. The governments have committed to putting this agreement in place by the end of 2019 so that Eurostar travellers can then enjoy a direct service in both directions.
For our business travellers, the Business Premier service will be available on the direct service London-Amsterdam offering fully flexible fares before departure. Business Premier customers enjoy 10 minute express check-in, exclusive access to the business lounges as well as complimentary meal and drinks served at their seat.
